What to ask before dermal filler: a patient question list
Request a consultation ↗before a commitment
The short answer
A filler consultation should give you enough information to make a decision without pressure. The FDA recommends asking about provider training, product labeling, injection sites, and risks.
A considered guide
Product questions
Ask for the product name, material, approved uses, expected duration, and patient labeling. Do not assume that every filler is interchangeable.
Provider questions
Ask who will inject, what relevant training they have, how often they perform the procedure, and how they handle complications.
Personal safety questions
Disclose active skin inflammation, infection, bleeding disorders, allergies, medications, prior filler, and any other health information the provider requests.
